The South West Development Authority (SOWEDA) is an administrative public establishment that identifies and implements government programs with one goal: to improve the socio-economic and social development of the people of the South West Region.

Since its creation in 1987, SOWEDA has realized hundreds of projects in the areas of agriculture and rural infrastructure which have significantly improved the lives of the rural population.

Despite this significant progress, the organization understood it needed a platform to promote its activities and provide heavy-duty equipment for development projects within the region.

Having amassed more than 16 years of experience building and maintaining world-class software and web solutions, SOWEDA turned to us for this task. The project involved building two websites: one for SOWEDA and another for AIVDP, one of SOWEDA’s ongoing agricultural projects. The organization also needed a way to get content from field workers in rural areas with limited Internet connectivity.

As an Agile-focused agency, our team started by collecting and organizing the requirements in the product backlog. Using Bootstrap, PHP, and MySQL, we built to showcase the organization’s activities and projects as well as make it easy for the population to hire heavy-duty equipment for developmental projects within the region. Our team created another website, for the AIVDP project, hosted on a subdomain. Then, we built a native Android mobile application using Java to make it compatible with most smartphones. The application allowed SOWEDA’s field workers to upload content on their various activities, especially in rural areas with limited Internet connectivity.

We worked with the SOWEDA team for 2 months with back-and-forth meetings, milestones, and scrum sprints to deliver both websites and the mobile application.

Today, SOWEDA continues to carry out its developmental activities while enhancing the livelihoods of its beneficiaries through AIVDP and other projects.
